SC-TEACHER is the South Carolina Teacher Education Advancement Consortium through Higher Education Research.

SC-TEACHER will examine the broad landscape of teacher recruitment, preparation, and retention practices in South Carolina – and build and deploy a state-centric, longitudinal database system to understand statewide issues and best practices for establishing protocols and to maintain a data infrastructure necessary to answer key questions posed by policymakers and practitioners.

  1. Understand the effect of various strategies on teacher outcomes in South Carolina in order to inform the design of Educator Preparation Programs;

  2. Serve as a resource center for South Carolina by coordinating and disseminating high-quality research for and by all of the state’s school districts and universities in support of equitable learning for all children; and

  3. Provide evidence of effective practices that positively impact teacher effectiveness as determined by the South Carolina Teacher Standards 4.0 Rubric.
