A teacher in the early stage of their professional practice holding an entry-level certification appropriate to their preparation pathway. This designation, which typically applies to teachers in their first 3 years, can include alternative route enrollees who hold an alternative certificate, traditionally prepared teachers who hold an initial certification, and other combinations of pathways and levels prior to attainment of professional certification.
