About the SCAWCS

This new, statewide survey instrument, developed by SC TEACHER, seeks to better understand and support the work of South Carolina’s school administrators. PURPOSE

Modeled after the SC Teacher Working Conditions Survey, the SCAWCS will capture SC-specific data from school administrators related to…

  • Job demands + resources
  • Job satisfaction
  • Intent to stay in the profession

  • Principal [01]
  • Assistant principal or co-principal [02]

  • Administrative assistant [88]

BENEFITS

The SCAWCS is designed to…

  • Identify predictors of leadership sustainability.

What happens with survey results

ACTING ON DISTRICT-LEVEL FINDINGS

  • District leaders will receive confidential survey results specific to their district (when at least five administrators participate).
  • Individual participants will not be identifiable by their responses.
  • Leadership can use these data to inform strategies for administrator support, recruitment, and retention.
  • SC TEACHER will offer free related resources and strategic planning workshops.

IMPACTING STATEWIDE POLICY

  • SC TEACHER will publish a report of state-level results.
  • This research can support statewide efforts to strengthen leadership effectiveness, improve working conditions, and retain high-quality leaders.
  • District participation will help inform policies related to school leadership throughout the state.
