Retention

When an educator remains in the South Carolina public school system in the same role from one year to the next. Retention can be analyzed at multiple levels:

• State-Level Retention: When an educator continues to serve in a South Carolina public school in the same role, regardless of district or school changes.
• District-Level Retention: When an educator continues to serve in the same district in the same role, even if they switch schools within that district.
• School-Level Retention: When an educator continues to serve in the same school in the same role.
