To better understand the state of teacher recruitment, preparation, and retention, our research team investigates a variety
of school-level factors associated with educator pipeline research.
Our annual workforce profiles examine key educator demographics across South Carolina, considering factors like geographic context and school poverty levels. Comparisons to the US teaching population help provide a more thorough understanding of our state’s workforce.
Administered every other year, the alternating SC Teacher Working Conditions Survey and SC Administrator Working Conditions Survey provide an opportunity for the state’s educators to share individual perspectives on their working conditions, including resources, challenges, and their overall impact on educator engagement and satisfaction.
Data from the annual SC Teacher Exit Survey can inform recruitment and retention strategies. Participating districts learn more about the circumstances around teachers’ decisions to leave their current teaching positions or the profession.
